The Importance of Interpreting Oneself

How can anyone expect to truly understand the world and other people without truly understanding themselves?

Why don't we Believe?

We are a society of disbelievers, not just of religion and faith, but of everything. Naivety... That is a word I use often, and not because I like it, but because it so perfectly describes the affliction that affects the majority of us. We choose to ignore the obvious. We don't heed warnings, and then we wonder why we suffer the consequences. We are a society of doubting Thomas'; a society that sees believing as a weakness. The only weakness in believing anything is that you cannot force anyone else to believe. One must understand that there is an enormous difference between naivety and stupidity. Stupidity is believing everything everyone tells you. Naivety is not believing anything anyone tells you is possible. The most intelligent and humble thing for a person to do is to believe that anything is possible no matter how impossible it may seem.

Everything Happens for a Reason

Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes we don't know why, sometimes we never will, sometimes it just takes time, and sometimes we already know... But everything happens for a reason. Sometimes things happen to teach us, sometimes they happen to humble us, and sometimes they happen to prevent something else from happening. All I know is that God always watches our backs. Our life is an orchestra that we lead, but God sometimes chooses the song, and we have to decide how to play it and what instruments to use.

Life... We can't live without it.

What is life? Life is a precious gift that, unfortunately, we all take for granted in one way or another. It is easy to forget just how precious it is, how fragile it is, and how short it is. Why do we take advantage of it? It's just one of those bad qualities that we, as human beings and as society as a whole, have. We are naive. We never think that things could really happen to us. To us...? No way! We talk the talk, but we don't walk the walk. We say things like, "live every day like it's your last," and, "life is short, so enjoy it." Unfortunately, most of us don't even take our own advice... At least not until we come close to losing it all... And we ask why God lets bad things happen to good people.

What many people may not understand is that God doesn't MAKE bad things happen... He lets them. Why? Sometimes it's a wake up call. Bad things help us to appreciate the good and appreciate the fragility of life so that we can learn to live without naivety, and rather with a true understanding of just how precious life is, and just how important it is to truly savor the good moments in life.

Is the World Worth Saving?

We live in a society of liars, cheaters, haters, thieves, assholes, egomaniacs, and people who care about no one but themselves. Every one is fake.

I used to have more faith in society up until a few years ago. What happened? What changed? What happened was that I grew up and realized that the world is not ideal. I realized that the most horrible things that happen only to other people are closer than we all think. I realized that we, as a society, are a sick people. I realized that stupidity, ignorance, and naivety are diseases that all but few of us suffer from. Whomever said, "Ignorance is bliss," did not know or see the world for what it truly is. We are living in dangerous times, but the world still manages to be selfish and ignorant while spiritual, economic, and moral death is kicking down our doors.
